Daphne Turner (d. 2019)

Artworks | Biography

Daphne was a painter and printmaker worked from her studio in West Penwith, Cornwall. Since completing courses in Art and Design and Painting with the Open College of the Arts 20 years ago she became increasingly involved with painting semi-abstract work based on the local landscape and the remains of the mining industry.

Frequent attendance at the St.Ives School of Painting with encouragement and help from the tutors over the past 18 years had resulted in her development and present direction for her work. Over the more recent years collagraph printmaking had become a new medium for her after taking instruction with Peter Wray and Judy collins of Handprint Studios. Following a move to Newlyn in 2013, the harbour and sea have become additional influences. An interest in colour, texture and atmosphere guide the making of the paintings and prints.

Sadly Daphne passed away in 2019.
